Flighty
safety ranks as a top priority with Aeróleo. It receives the
company's constant attention and as a result, Aeróleo has one
of the highest flight safety ratings in Brazil in relation to offshore
activities. Its pilots regularly conduct simulated emergency training
flights, in parallel with flight safety seminars. Maintenance personnel
and all flight crews are also constantly retrained through refresher
courses.
In 2000, following audit inspections of its facilities
and operations, Aeróleo was designated as an approved helicopter
operator by Mobil, Texaco, Exxon and Shell, prior to the commencement
of their new oil exploration and production programmes in Brazil.
Aeróleo has been designated "Offshore Helicoper
Company of the year in 2001, Campos Basin/Brazil".
Such prize is an important recognition of both Aeróleo's
efforts and our employee's dedication in the search for high quality
operations, maximum safety and a constant improvement in our services.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE
The maintenance procedures for Aeróleo aircraft, initially
set up and approved in accordance with the regulations of the two
principal bodies responsible for consumer safety and protection
in the aviation industry, the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA)
and the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), have been accepted
and approved by the Civil Aviation Department of the Brazilian Air
Ministry.
Engineering and technical safety is a concept taken
very seriously at Aeróleo and all maintenance personnel are
fully licensed and trained. Senior engineers from the company's
international partners work hand in hand with their Brazilian counterparts
to ensure that the highest standards of maintenance are maintained.
CREW TRAINING
Aeróleo captains have an average of 10,000 flight hours experience
which is a very high figure, even for general commercial aviation.
Aeróleo has its own highly professional flight training department.
All crew members - pilots, co-pilots and flight attendants - take
monthly refresher courses in standard and emergency procedures,
with specialized classes once a year plus special training sessions
on issues such as cabin management and survival in the jungle and
at sea. Again, safety is the driving force behind the company's
desire to have the best-trained personnel in the industry.
